Smoky Mountains Fall Foliage Under Fog

Did you know, they’re called the Great “Smoky” Mountains because of the natural fog that often covers areas of the mountain range and forest, as you can see in this photo of some Smoky Mountains fall foliage being overtaken by some of the fog.

Hazy fog over Smoky Mountains fall foliage. A good example of why they are called the Great "Smoky" Mountains. Pentax *istDS.

Autumn is a great time to visit the Great Smoky Mountains because the leaves are changing color and the fall foliage is beautiful to see, when it’s not covered by fog. 🙂

Seriously though, the Great Smoky Mountains are a wonderful place to visit and, if you can visit when the leaves are changing, you’ll be treated to some beautiful Smoky Mountains fall foliage scenery.

Put more Smoky Mountains scenery on your wall with my Great Smoky Mountains Wall Calendar!
